John M. Mikkelsen – President
John is a graduate of Marist High School in Chicago. After graduation, John attended the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. He began his career with The Travelers Insurance Companies in 1973 in their claim department. He joined the agency side in 1976, becoming a partner in 1979 and President of the Agency in 1990. John specializes in the Commercial Insurance market. In his free time, John enjoys spending time with his family and traveling with his wife of over 45 years, Marilyn. Our resident cruise experts, John and Marilyn have sailed on over 70 cruises across the world. He has 2 children, Scott and Laura.
Carl P. Kipp – Vice President
Carl is a graduate of Brother Rice High School in Chicago. After graduation, he attended Wabash College where he earned his B.A. in Economics and Business. Carl joined the agency in 1984 and became a partner in 1990. He became Vice President of the agency in 1997. Carl works in both the commercial and personal lines markets and is responsible for the operations of the agency.
Carl lives in Oak Lawn, IL and in his free time enjoys golfing and attending various sporting events.
Scott P. Mikkelsen – Director of Sales
Scott has been an agent at MKK since June of 2004 and a partner since 2010. He is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN where he majored in Journalism with a minor in general business. In addition to selling insurance at MKK, Scott is also in charge of the technology and marketing for the agency. In his free time, Scott enjoys attending sporting events like White Sox and Blackhawks games. He likes spending time with his friends, golf, planning Disney Vacations and traveling with his wife, Shannon and children Brennan, Eddie and Laney. Scott currently resides in Lockport, IL with his family.
Scott specializes in both personal and commercial insurance as well as life insurance and financial products.
Carrie M. Hutchings – Personal Lines C.S.R.
Carrie started with Mikkelsen, Kelly & Kipp in 2016. She has over 15 years of insurance experience. Before joining us, Carrie was a producer/CSR for a direct writing company. Her main responsibilities are assisting our personal lines customers with their billing, claims and policy servicing needs.
Carrie is married with 3 children and lives in Mokena, IL. She attended Triton College in River Grove IL where she studied liberal arts.
Her hobbies include spending time with family and friends and her husband of over 10 years.
Sherri E. Granat – Commercial Lines C.S.R.
Sherri is the newest addition to MKK Insurance. She comes to us with over 15 years of commercial insurance experience. After graduating from Queen of Peace High School Sherri attended Moraine Valley CC in Palos Hills, IL to study General Business.
Sherri is an avid camper and fan of the outdoors. She enjoys spending time with her family and 12 nieces and nephews.
As the Commercial Lines C.S.R., Sherri’s responsibilities include servicing for our commercial clients including billing, certificates of liability and coverage changes.
